Age Requirements
Marriage license applicants must be 18 years old or older with valid identification.SB1705 - Effective September 1, 2017
SECTION 2.101 Family Code, is amended to read as follows:
SECTION 2.101 GENERAL AGE REQUIREMENT.
A county Clerk may not issue a marriage license if either applicant is under 18 years of age, unless each underage applicant shows that the applicant has been granted by this state or another state a court order removing the disabilities of minority of the applicant for general purposes.
Blood Tests / Health Certificates
Blood tests or health certificates are not required to obtain a license.
Marriages After Divorces
There is a 30-day waiting period for a marriage license after a divorce is granted within this state. An applicant may apply for a license within the 30 days if the court issues a waiver in the divorce decree.
