Looking for an opportunity to receive free training that can make a difference in an emergency?
Parker County’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes for the fall of 2018 have been set. The fall CERT 317 course is a free 21 hour course. One must attend all days to receive a certificate. It will span the following dates:
Saturday October 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday October 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Saturday October 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday October 29 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The classes will be held at the Emergency Management Building at 215 Trinity Street, Weatherford on the north side of the Weatherford farmer’s market.
Parker County Community Liaison for Emergency Preparedness Kit Marshall, said that CERT is an all-hazard training designed to help residents help themselves, family, friends and neighbors in an emergency situation.
“CERT volunteers are trained in basic disaster skills to respond effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in danger,” Marshall said. “The level of training equips CERT members to assist during a disaster until professional fire, police and EMS arrive on scene which could be anywhere from a couple of minutes to hours, depending on the situation.”
