June 18, 2019 WEATHERFORD – Weather permitting, work will begin on the FM 51 project Monday, June 24. Blythe Construction will begin work at the Clear Fork Trinity River Bridge and proceed south.
To facilitate this work, lane closures will be necessary. The closures will be restricted to the hours of 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day. Flaggers and a pilot car will direct traffic at each end of the closure and at intersections. The traffic control plan also includes provisions for local traffic to access businesses and residences.
This $8 million rehabilitation project from the Union Pacific railroad crossing just north of US 180 to the Clear Fork Trinity River Bridge is estimated for completion in the summer of 2020. The project will repave the road and turn lanes will be added at four intersections:
• N. Bend Road- A southbound center left-turn only lane and a northbound right-turn only lane will be added.
• Stonebridge Court- A southbound center left-turn only lane and a northbound right-turn only lane will be added.
• Old Agnes/Old Springtown Road- Right-turn only lanes will be added in both the north and south bound directions. (Note: Center left turn lanes currently exist in both directions.)
• Friendship Road, a north bound right-turn only lane will be added. (Note: Center left turn lanes currently exist in both directions.)
Safety is a top priority at TxDOT, and the foundation for the agency’s planning, building and maintaining of projects across the state. When driving through a work zone, motorists are reminded to: plan ahead, slow down, pay attention, and avoid distractions such as cell phones.
